MASLOW TOFFLER - AN ALTERNATIVE PROGRAM

The Maslow-Toffler School of Futuristic Education was conceived around the beliefs of Abraham Maslow and Alvin Toffler. Through these theories and beliefs the school hopes to achieve its goal of preparing the students for the responsibilities of everyday life.
Maslow revolutionized the foundation of psychology. He theorized that that when a persons' deficiency needs are satisfied, one does not have to defend oneself to the world, and will become a self-actualizing person.
Toffler is a futurist who believes the present educational system must change itself and move ito preparation for the future to mold it for the betterment of mankind.
The Maslow Toffler School of Futuristic Education makes learning a new experience where both teachers and students learn from one another. Each person has a responsibility to himself and his fellow students; we are each an interlocking piece of a puzzle that will form a lifetime of ideas. The school provides students and staff with the feeling of individuality and the knowledge that they are truly growing to fit into the "future" society.

P.A.C. WORKSHOPS AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Each student enrolled in the Maslow-Toffler School is required to attend a Work Experience of his/her choice. For students with business or public service interests, Town Hall has worked out a program to accommodate approximately forty students. Students are employed in the Town Attorney's Office, Senior Citizens' Bureau, Supervisor's Office and Purchasing Departments. Students who are interested in the medical and allied professions attend Work Experience programs at Pilgrim State Hospital. They work with psychologists, nurses, and patients.
The purpose of the Work Experience program is to give students an opportunity to adapt to the working world. The students are given positions of responsibility involving duties pertinent to the vocations they have chosen. Consequently, students who were previously sure of what job they would strive toward have considerably changed or reaffirmed their goals.    Karen White
